Anchors Away
Are deck shoes for women in style? I don't know about that, but I've seen 2 modern looking women wearing them in the last two weeks.
Can anyone confirm that this is a trend?
I think I might be able to get with this trend a lot easier than I adapted to the idea of skinny jeans (wait, I never adapted to the idea of skinny jeans.)
Deep thoughts for Friday;-)
Have a great weekend. I'm heading home for Dad's b'day.

As you can imagine, I had to Google that one immediately. My first search makes me think that your stylish friends may be holding on a bit too long to the "Nautical Look" that was designated for Summer 2007.
But... I also found a reference to deck shoes being a trend in Japan, but only one. If that's the case, they're way cutting edge!
Personally, I say skip the deck shoes and stick with ballet flats. :-)
Deck shoes are back in!? WHOO-HOOO! I'm gonna buy me a pair on the way home from work!
Penny loafers can't be far behind. I bought a pair of Hush Puppy penny loafers just as they were going out of style (or maybe they were already out of style and I had no idea). Niki won't let me wear them - they are practically brand new!
JP, I just saw Japanese woman at Columbus Circle wearing long jean shorts, knee socks and euro shoes. I hope that look isn't on it's way in too!
Bring the loafers to NYC with a pair of jeans and v-neck sweater. I think you could fit right in.
the thing with deck shoes, is they really only look good without socks. so, i agree with jp, they are pretty much a summer trend, as sockless new york winters do not sound fun or healthy.
but i "heart" the preppy look. "The Official Preppy Handbook" is hilarious and one of my fave books.
Erin, I got a Mac, finally!
i'm hoping the ballet flats stay in for a while and am desperately hoping that, should they go out soon, they are not replaced by those long pointy-toed shoes. i never understood how the women walked up stairs with those things on without falling on their face. i know i couldn't have done it.
Oh good lord -- I think I finally made Corey throw those horrible loafers away. And no, those weren't the penny loafers that used to be in style. They were the terrible penny loafers that 55-year-olds used to wear with their pleated, tapered-leg dress pants. Let's just say those shoes didn't do much for someone with freakishly small feet like my dear husband.
And if chucklehead comes home with a pair of deck shoes, you better believe those things are not going to find their way into the closet.
