Prospect Park Creations

Prospect Park was a sea of sledders, a dog sled and dozens of snow creations. What's better than snow!? A bit tricky to get the contrast right in these photos, but you can see most of them.

Don't even think about it:-)

I am always amazed at the number of adults sledding right along with the kids!

Snowman in a go-cart!

Dog sled!!!! I think Kayla needs to do this with Quinn and Maisie:-)

Is it safe to go back in the snow?

Whistling in the New Year

After a lovely fondue dinner, Matt and I decided to celebrate the New Year at Pratt University. Why? Pratt boasts the oldest continuously-operating, privately owned steam-powered electrical generating plant in the United States. The chief engineer also collects steam whistles, which he sets off every year on New Years Eve.

From blocks away, the whistling cut through the heavy, slight foggy air and quiet of the night.

We found a use for the large snow piles;-)

People played the set of whistles starting at around 11pm. (Video tomorrow). But once the clock stuck midnight, giant whistles were set off and sounded like the Titanic was sailing through Clinton Hill.

The lighting from the street lamps was the perfect backdrop for the steam.

Happy 2011!!!

If you have never visited Pratt, I recommend coming to see its sculptures, which cover the grounds. The steam was an erie and amazing backdrop.
